Keep Me By Anna Zaires

Keep Me (Twist Me, #2)Keep Me by Anna Zaires
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thoughts on Nora?

Teresa: I loved Nora, she was badass. Yeah the whole relationship was totally completely bat-shit crazy, but her as a person, the love she had for Julian, total badass. She risked her life on so many levels for him. He kidnapped her, and she still fell in love with him.

Amanda: I am not sure what to say about Nora. She didn’t want to be with Julian, but she loved him. When she got away, she wanted to go back. And she did on her own free will.

Thoughts on Julian?

Teresa: I’d grown quite fond of him, the more I learned the more my heart softened. He was a product of his environment. His father wasn’t the best of people and his mother was no Nora. He could take care of himself, but he let his guard down for her. The lengths he goes for Nora amazed me.

Amanda: I am still up in the air with him. I wanted to like him but I couldn’t get over the fact that he kidnapped Nora just because he wanted her.

What we loved about the book!

Amanda: I really liked that Nora did not just sit in the dark in this book. She wanted to know what was going on and she wanted to be part of what was happening. She didn’t play the victim in this book, and she was an equal.

Teresa: I loved watching them both fall in love. They let their guards down piece by piece, even though they both did things that piss the other off, they cared.

What we didn’t like about the book.

Amanda: I am still a little up in the air on this book.

Teresa: It ended, and the third book isn’t out yet.

Twist Me by Anna Zaires

Twist Me (Twist Me, #1)Twist Me by Anna Zaires
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thoughts on Nora?

Teresa: To me Nora was brave…she was kidnapped taken away from everything and everyone she knew, and she survived. She made the best of her situation, even if there were some bumps in the road along the way.

Amanda: Nora was a shy, quite girl who was afraid to even talk to the boy she was crushing on. She just happened to meet a man in a bar where she should not have been in the first place. And that took her life in a whole different direction.

Thoughts on Julian?

Teresa: Nora said it best: he’s an enigma. As bad as it was, he captivated me, part of me hates who he was and what he did, but the other fell for his charms. He loved her, in his own sick demented way.

Amanda: Julian wanted what he wanted and he would not take no for an answer. And if he was told he couldn’t have something, he just took it. I really wanted to hate him for kidnapping Nora, but found it impossible.

What we loved about the book!

Amanda: This book just sucked me in; I read it in one sitting! I could not wait to find out what was happening. I wanted to yell at Julian for taking Nora and I was secretly was rooting for them to be together all at the same time.

Teresa: I stumbled across this in the Take Me: Twelve Tales of Dark Possession Book. It was the first one, sounded interesting and had me hooked in the first chapter. I couldn’t put it down; it was amazing. Dark, possessive and right up my alley as far as books go. The writing captivated me. Anna pulled me right in, I felt as though I was on the island with Nora.

What we didn’t like about the book.

Amanda: I will say I felt there were some unanswered questions.

Teresa: I’d say that I didn’t get closure on some things…..but I’d already read Keep Me. So nothing I didn’t like about this one.

Better When He’s Bold by Jay Crownover

Verum (The Nocte Trilogy, #2)Verum by Courtney Cole
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Thoughts on Calla?

Teresa: I don’t know….I just don’t know. Completely bat shit crazy, is what I thought half the time.

Amanda: Calla drives me crazy! I wanted to just shake her, because she was all over the place. Just when she remembers something, it changes everything she thought she knew.

Thoughts on Dare?

Teresa: I actually like him, or who I think he is anyway.

Amanda: Dare is patient with Calla and the things she could not remember. I really wanted him to help her remember, but he would not tell her anything.

What we loved about the book!

Amanda: I loved getting to find out more about what happened the night that Calla can’t remember. But now I am not even sure what really happed then.

Teresa: The writing and twisting plots are amazing! But I don’t know…I feel like this is a cop out, because I do really like the book. I want to know what happened, but overall, I’m just completely confused. Which I seem to enjoy!

What we didn’t like about the book.

Amanda: Let me say this book confused the hell out of me. Every time I thought I finally knew what was going on, I didn’t, and it changed so many times. I had to reread things a number of times. This book had me thinking I was losing my mind.

Teresa: I feel as though I still don’t know anything. What I thought was true, according to this book, it isn’t. And what might be true could be completely contradicted in the next.

ARC provided by author in return for an honest review.

Thoughts on Riley Johnson?

Teresa: Riley is a small town sassy girl, lost in a world of Brett. She’s too trusting, naive, and moony-eyed over this man, until she isn’t sure about him and the secrets he’s keeping.

Amanda: Riley is head over hills in love with Brett. She is blinded by him, until the puzzle pieces start to not to fit together as perfectly as she once thought.

Thoughts on Brett Jacobs?

Teresa: Brett’s smooth, he’s rich, and he’s every girl’s dream. He can’t do anything wrong in Riley’s eyes, or can he? Brett Jacobs has secrets, deep secrets—things no one knows about him, not even Riley—especially Riley. He does everything expected in any relationship perfectly: flowers, gifts, flights, trips, the meeting of the parents, and even the exes. This man is just too good to be true…until he’s not.

Amanda: Brett is sexy and mysterious. He falls in love with Riley fast and hard, and does everything to show her. But he still has his harbors his secrets.

What we loved about the book!

Amanda: I loved this book! It really kept me sitting at the edge of my seat. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, the entire story changed.

Teresa: I don’t want to give anything away! I loved the suspense; it was freaking amazing and I was on the edge of my seat—just like Amanda was—until I finished. I had all of these theories running through my head, and as with all of Alessandra’s books, when I thought I had it figured out, I didn’t. As an author, this is what I love best about her stories.

What we didn’t like about the book.

Amanda: Not one thing that I can think of.

Teresa: Nothing…absolutely nothing.

Kyland by Mia Sheridan

KylandKyland by Mia Sheridan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Thoughts on Tenleigh Falyn?

Teresa: I liked Tenleigh…she always seemed to worry more about everyone else than herself. She’s smart, dedicated and loyal to a fault.

Amanda: Tenleigh is smart, caring and would do anything to get out of her small hick town. That was until she got to know Kyland.

Thoughts on Kyland Barrett?

Teresa: Kyland was smart and sexy. He was always trying to protect everyone around him, including himself, though it didn’t work out the way he planned.

Amanda: Kyland was hell bent on getting out of the small town that took everything from him. He did anything and everything he could to make sure he got out of there. The one thing he didn’t count on was falling in love.

What we loved about the book!

Amanda: I love how Tenleigh and Kyland grew together. They didn’t have much to start with, but they didn’t let that stop them.

Teresa: It was real…there was no sugarcoating the reality that they live in. They made it work, they matured together.

What we didn’t like about the book.

Amanda: I can’t think of anything I didn’t like. I just really wanted to know more about what they had both done during the time when they were apart.

Teresa: One thing Kyland did…I figured it out before it came about. I knew, I understood, but I saw it coming from a mile away. I wish that had been done differently; to me felt cliché and it’s been done before. Other than that, nothing I didn’t like.

Teresa: 4 stars!

Amanda: 3½ stars!
