*REVIEW* Twist by Kylie Scott

twistFrom New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott comes the second sizzling stand-alone novel in the Dive Bar series!

When his younger brother loses interest in online dating, hot bearded bartender Joe Collins only intends to log into his account and shut it down. Until he reads about her.

Alex Parks is funny, fascinating, and pretty much everything he’s been looking for in a woman—except that she lives across the country. Soon they’re emailing up a storm and telling each other their deepest, darkest secrets…except the one that really matters.

When Alex pays Joe a surprise visit, however, they both discover that when it comes to love, it’s always better with a twist.

Susan’s Review: 5 stars

Thank you, Kylie Scott! Thank you for writing and being good at it! I picked this up because 1) I knew I’d love it and have been waiting to read it since meeting Joe in the first book and 2) I read a few less than stellar books recently and I was thinking I was going into a reading slump. READING SLUMP IS NO MORE!

I wouldn’t necessarily say this was angsty, but I would say it was rather emotional and kind of heavy. Alex shows up at Dive Bar to meet Eric in person after having emailed and messaged with him for the last few months. Only Eric has no clue who she is because it’s actually been his older brother Joe who’s been talking to her. Naturally, Alex is horrified and leaves in the rain to find a hotel. When she gets the flu, Joe takes care of her and they iron out the deception and start over being friends.

Both Joe and Alex have some baggage and have trouble getting out of the mold they have some how managed to get into…Joe always doing what others expect and never what he wants and Alex hiding away from the world. They agree to push each others boundaries and to see where things go. I don’t want to say too much for fear of spoiling it, but just know my heart broke near the end – for more than one reason. And when Alex left, I was hurt for everyone involved. But the ending, ahhhh it was lovely and fixed ALL the heart ache!

I’m dying to see who can tame spoiled man-child Eric. That has to be one hell of a woman!
